What does this Care Assistant job involve?

As a Care Assistant, you will be helping clients to live independently as possible in their own homes, supporting them to make healthy choices about their care and be involved in them having a voice.  You will support them with their everyday living and this includes:

  • Daily Living: Assisting with daily life, prompting or administering medication, prompting moving around for those less mobile, planning meals, assist with eating and drinking.
  • Community:  Encouraging clients to not lose community access, by attending their chosen activities in the community according to their care plan and risk assessment.
  • Companionship:  Building professional relationships with clients and their families and those they have given consent to share information with.  Assisting with their emotional, social and spiritual needs whilst promoting independence and choice.
  • Personal Care: Supporting clients with their care needs according to their individual care and support plan.  This may include washing and dressing, continence needs, shaving and dental hygiene.
