What does this Support Worker job involve?

 

Example day:

  • Pre-shift preparation: Check client assignments, ensure appropriate clothing.
  • Start of shift: Read communication book, appointment diary, and handover notes.
  • Morning tasks (early shift): Assist clients with personal care, breakfast, and dressing if needed.
  • Medication administration if required.
  • Follow the client's lead and pre-booked activities/appointments.
  • Continuously record client information and report any incidents.
  • Utilise downtime for training, cleaning, and service tasks.
  • 3 pm handover meeting to share important resident information.
  • For long shifts, move to work with a different client after the meeting.
  • Some days include scheduled staff training.

 

Please note: Shift times specified are the earliest and the latest times for the daytime/night shifts. The shifts can be scheduled anytime in between the daytime hours of 7am-10pm. It can be a case of an early morning, long day or late afternoon. For the waking nights 10pm-8am: this is the only shift available.

The rota is published a couple of weeks in advance so that the staff members can plan their personal commitments around work. The contracted hours will be split across the week, depending on the needs of the people we support and the business’ needs.

 

 

Am I the right person for this Support Worker job?

 

  • Care experience is not a prerequisite.
  • We are looking for individuals residing near the home or those capable of reaching it within 30-40 minutes.
  • In special cases, we may consider candidates residing up to 1 hour away via convenient public transportation routes (e.g., direct routes).
  • Fluent English communication and flexible availability are essential, with minimal restrictions on working days (i.e., must be available on most days).
  • Having a driver's license is a preferred qualification.
