Hightown is a charitable housing association operating principally in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire. We believe everyone should have a home and the support they need, so we aim to build new homes and provide excellent housing and support.
We currently manage over 9,300 homes and employ over 1,000 full and part time staff from our head office in Hemel Hempstead. We have an annual turnover of £120 million and a development programme that will deliver over 400 new affordable homes each year.

St Barnabas provides supported living homes for people with learning disabilities. We have 8 supported living homes for people with 24-hour support on-site provided. We also provide outreach support for people with learning disabilities in the community.

We are currently recruiting for a full-time (37.5 hours) Support Worker at our service, St Barnabas Court in Hemel Hempstead. The role is based in Hemel Hempstead with some travel to locations in St Albans.

As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in helping people live independently and with dignity. As part of the role, you will:

• Assess needs and develop personalised support plans
• Promote independence through life skills such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting
• Provide personal care with sensitivity and respect
• Follow and contribute to risk assessments and management plans

• Induct and assist in the mentoring of new staff

• Support aspirations and help individuals achieve their goals

We are looking for someone with experience in the care or support sector who brings a can-do attitude and a genuine desire to help others thrive.

You will also need to:

• Communicate effectively and adapt to different needs and preferences
• Be flexible and reliable, able to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
• This role also includes one shift per week of completing a sleep-in.
• Work well as part of a team and independently
• Be committed to equality, diversity, and person-centred care
• Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work, which includes business insurance

You must hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a vehicle for work purposes and be happy to do sleep-ins. (An allowance of £52.78 per sleep-in is paid)
