As a Domiciliary Care Assistant, you’ll support people in their own homes so they can live safely, comfortably, and independently. Each day will be different, but your main responsibilities may include:
Companionship & conversation – Spending time with clients, offering a listening ear, sharing stories, and providing friendly company.
Personal care – Supporting with washing, dressing, toileting, and maintaining personal hygiene with dignity and respect.
Meal preparation – Helping to prepare or serve meals and ensuring clients are eating and drinking well.
Medication support – Prompting or assisting clients to take prescribed medication safely.
Light household tasks – Helping keep the home tidy and comfortable (for example, light cleaning, laundry, or making the bed).
Following care plans – Each client has a personalised plan, and you’ll follow it carefully to meet their individual needs.
Safeguarding & wellbeing – Being alert to any changes in a client’s health, mood, or environment, and reporting concerns promptly to keep them safe.
Communication & teamwork – Keeping clear records, updating the office or family when needed, and working closely with your colleagues to deliver great care.

Essential requirements:
A caring, compassionate, and patient nature
Reliability and honesty — clients depend on you
A driver with access to your own car (essential for this role)
A mobile phone for logging visits and communication
Availability for 4 x 1 hour daily visits (including some flexibility if needed)
Good communication skills and fluent spoken English
Willingness to complete care training and follow care plans
A commitment to safeguarding and respecting clients’ dignity at all times
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience in care, nursing, or volunteering
Knowledge of the local Wheathampstead area
