The core responsibility of the on-call Support Worker is to be available and provide direct support to the individuals we support across Hertfordshire 24 hours a day from Monday at 7.15am to Friday at 5pm. The role requires the ability to use initiative and work independently and creatively, providing support that enables individual to lead the life they wish.

Responding to cover needed and requirements from the On-call Manager, the post holder will ensure the individuals we support receive the highest quality of support in line with the values of Partners in Support. The On Call Support Worker will be employed:
- In conjunction with the On-call Manager, to respond to emergencies and cover requirements within services across the organisation from Monday to Friday
- To provide direct support that meets the individual’s Person Centred Plan and Working policy.
- To be available and prepared to work throughout the period from Monday 7.15am to Friday 5pm
- To ensure that the individuals remains at the centre of their support.
- To carry an on-call phone and respond to any difficulties alerted to
- To support the individuals with their emotional wellbeing and relationships.
- To report any concerns regarding the individuals to the team leader and on call manager.
- To adhere to and implement Partner in Support policies and procedures.
Key Duties
- To help monitor the individual’s mental, emotional and physical health.
- To support and empower the individuals to manage their budget and finances.
- To treat the individuals at all times with respect and respect the choices that they make.
- To support the individuals to develop and maintain relationships with neighbours, their friends and family.
- To assist the individuals to explore and try new experiences within employment and recreational activities.
- To provide personal care in accordance with the wishes of the individuals, respecting the dignity of the person at all times.
- To work with the individuals to maintain and to learn new skills.
- To communicate respectfully with the individuals and other members of the support team.
- To support the individuals and/or their family to report any concerns or complaints.
- To support the individuals to develop and utilise natural support networks, e.g. family, friends, colleagues and neighbours.
- To support the individuals to meet their household responsibilities.
- To report to the on call manager and receive regular supervision and attend training as required.
Duties may vary from time to time as agreed with Partners in Support.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience of providing person centred support to people with learning disabilities and Autism
- Experience of supporting people to live independently in their own home
SKILLS
- Able to work with a wide variety of individuals across the organisation
- Ability to manage difficult situations calmly and effectively
- Ability to work well under pressure and in an organised and systematic manner
- Ability to work independently and use own initiative
- Ability to work as part of a team
KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge and commitment to Person Centred Approaches and the aims of Partners in Support
- Possession of, or commitment to obtain, an appropriate Diploma
