You will be supporting a bright and sociable 45-year-old man with a brain injury who lives in his own adapted property in Welwyn. He shares his home with his mother and his dedicated care team and requires 2:1 support on a 24-hour basis.

He is non-verbal and communicates using thumbs up and thumbs down gestures, along with a small number of hand signals. He also uses a communication tool with images and emojis, developed by his Speech and Language Therapist, to help him express his needs.

He uses a bespoke electric wheelchair and has access to a wheelchair-accessible vehicle. Transfers are completed using an electric standing hoist. He also has a JEJ feeding tube in place, which is managed by his trained support staff.

He has a great sense of humour and enjoys social interaction. He leads an active lifestyle and attends clubs on average three times per week. He is very sociable and enjoys going out to music shows, shopping, and playing games with his support workers.

• Sleep-in rate: £13.28 per hour (weekdays) | £13.78 per hour (weekends)

As a Support Worker, you will provide 2:1 support to assist the client with his daily routines and ensure his comfort, safety, and wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting with personal care and daily living activities
• Assisting with mobility and transfers using an electric standing hoist
• Supporting with clinical tasks, including management of a PEG/JEJ feeding tube
• Assisting the client with communication using gestures and communication aids
• Supporting him to attend clubs, activities, and social outings
• Driving the client in his wheelchair-accessible vehicle to appointments and activities
• Encouraging social interaction and engagement in activities he enjoys

• Previous experience in complex care
• Experience with clinical tasks such as PEG or JEJ feeding
• A full UK driving licence (essential, as you will drive the client’s vehicle)
• Experience using hoists or mobility equipment
• A compassionate and patient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A reliable and professional attitude
