Morning Duties

• Helping residents wake up, wash, and get dressed
• Assisting with personal hygiene (bathing, oral care, toileting, grooming)
• Supporting mobility (helping residents get out of bed, use walking aids, or wheelchairs)
• Serving breakfast and assisting those who need help eating or drinking
• Administering or assisting with medication (if trained and authorised)
• Making beds and tidying rooms

Afternoon Duties

• Supporting residents with lunch and hydration
• Encouraging and assisting with activities (games, exercise, social interaction)
• Monitoring residents’ health and wellbeing (noticing changes in mood, appetite, or condition)
• Recording notes and updating care plans
• Helping residents attend appointments or move around the home
• Providing companionship and emotional support

Evening Duties

• Assisting with dinner and fluids
• Helping residents with toileting and personal care
• Preparing residents for bed (changing into nightwear, washing, oral care)
• Ensuring residents are comfortable and safe for the night
• Updating records and handing over information to night staff

General Responsibilities (Throughout the Day)

• Maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect for all residents
• Following care plans tailored to each individual
• Communicating with nurses, families, and other staff
• Keeping the environment clean, safe, and comfortable
• Safeguarding residents from harm or neglect
• Responding to emergencies or call bells

• 6 months experience of working within a nursing home
• Compassion and patience
• Good communication skills
• Physical stamina
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a team
