Harpenden Mencap is registered charity that provides care and support to adults with learning disabilities in Harpenden and St Albans.

  • To provide an outstanding level of support and promote positive relationships.
  • Supporting people to participate in their local community and social events.
  • Supporting with budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking healthy meals.
  • You may help people to get ready for their day by prompting or administering medication, and assisting with personal care when needed.
  • You will need to maintain excellent verbal and written communication at all times and utilise digital technology where required.

  • Transferrable experience or knowledge which would benefit adults with learning disabilities.
  • An experience of communicating positively with a variety of people with differing abilities
  • The ability to work as part of a team 
  • A good standard of verbal and written English to maintain records.
  • A commitment to person centered thinking and a willingness to take the lead from the people we support.

 

The positions we are recruiting for are working in peoples own homes and will require someone with a positive 'can do' attitude. We are looking for patient, compassionate and resilient Support Workers who have a good sense of humor – a desire to be part of someone’s success – no matter how small, will be essential.
