Benslow Nursing Home is part of the Benslow care home group of homes covering Hertfordshire. We have smaller care homes, home away from home and provide person centred care and ensure we meet the interests and likes/dislikes of our residents and all of our team work together and ensure they show dignity, empathy and respect to each other and the residents we care for.

Infection control standards need to be maintained to a high standard at all times. The cleanliness and hygiene standard of the home must be maintained and our housekeeper role is integral to this, as not only will they coach and mentor the domestic team, they will assign tasks and lead by example.

What does this Housekeeper job involve?

Main Responsibilities:

To have a working knowledge of the homes Health and Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health regulations.
To have a working knowledge of the homes policies and procedures in respect to your job.
To be in control of the cleaning routines and allocate work to the domestic assistants accordingly.
To control the cleaning material budget, and ensure the home has the necessary level of supplies.
To clean sanitary and associated equipment paying particular attention to the control of germs and infestation.
To report any maintenance defects, security problems or fire hazards.
To dispose of waste in accordance with the homes waste disposal policy.
To help train domestic staff in the use of equipment and safe working practices associated with domestic duties.
To attend staff meetings, motivate and stimulate, generate a good working atmosphere.
