Highbury Rise is a small 22 bedroom care home in Hitchin focussed on providing a homely environment and person centred care.  Highbury is one of three homes in the Hertfordshire area and part of the Benslow care home group.  Steve McQuinn formed the Benslow group in 1982 with his wife Sue.  We know the heart of delivery of great care is developing a great team and the cook is integral to this team.

 

For this role, you follow the Safer food, better business food safety standards and have been trained in these standards or open to training to these standards.

What does this Cook job involve?

 

  • You will prepare and cook two choices of meal for each setting and ad hoc items as required.
  • You will follow the safer food better business standards and ensure the kitchen is a clean well maintained environment.
  • You will work with the care team to review resident feedback and ensure those with dementia are able to demonstrate choice of meals through review of two plated meal examples.
  • You will follow SALT team guidance on food consistencies
  • You will also follow guidance on any allergens and ensure you have allergens of meals identified.
  • You will provide home made cakes and snacks for the care teams to provide to the residents throughout the day.
