About the Company

We are currently recruiting a cook for our Nursing Home of 31 residents in central Hitchin.

Benslow Nursing Home is one of three care homes in the Benslow care home group. We believe in great care and our team is integral to delivering this. We all have an important role to play.

What does this Cook job involve?

To ensure that all residents receive a varied, balance and nutritious diet.
To maintain and be responsible for organising daily cleaning of the kitchen.
To order as necessary and with the guidance of the operations director from suppliers and pass on invoices to the manager for delivery to the accounts department.
To ensure that the dining area is kept clean and tidy ensuring that tables are laid correctly and at the right time.
To ensure the meal time experience is presented in a relaxed atmoshere with mood music, table dressings etc.
To offer a show plate of each of the main meal choices for people to choose visually as required
To act in compliance with the instructions and procedure relating to notification of accidents and other Health and Safety matters.
To regularly inspect fittings and fixtures and the equipment and liase with the manager/matron of the home and the operations manager for repairs and replacements.
To supervise overall standards of cuisine, seasonal menu planning within budgetary limits.
To maintain all required administrative records for the efficient management of the kitchen, in particular information regarding menus, kitchen cleaning, staff training and orders.
To ensure daily temperature records are kept for all fridges and freezers.
