We are currently recruiting a cook for our Nursing Home of 31 residents in central Hitchin.

What does this Cook job involve?

 

  • To ensure that all residents receive a varied, balance and nutritious diet.
  • To maintain and be responsible for organising daily cleaning of the kitchen.
  • To order as necessary and with the guidance of the operations director from suppliers and pass on invoices to the manager for delivery to the accounts department.
  • To ensure that the dining area is kept clean and tidy ensuring that tables are laid correctly and at the right time.
  • To ensure the meal time experience is presented in a relaxed atmoshere with mood music, table dressings etc.
  • To offer a show plate of each of the main meal choices for people to choose visually as required
  • To act in compliance with the instructions and procedure relating to notification of accidents and other Health and Safety matters.
  • To regularly inspect fittings and fixtures and the equipment and liase with the manager/matron of the home and the operations manager for repairs and replacements.
  • To supervise overall standards of cuisine, seasonal menu planning within budgetary limits.
  • To maintain all required administrative records for the efficient management of the kitchen, in particular information regarding menus, kitchen cleaning, staff training and orders.
  • To ensure daily temperature records are kept for all fridges and freezers.
