Our mission is to maximise his independence, gradually transitioning from family care to 24/7 professional support in his own home. As he gains confidence, we're expanding our team to provide extended care hours.

 

We're looking for compassionate individuals for the role of Personal Assistant, who share our commitment to helping adults with learning challenges integrate into the community, foster independence, and make their own decisions. This position offers a unique chance to assist a 23-year-old autistic adult on his journey.

What does this Support Worker job involve?

 

The personal assistant role is a busy and active role in which the day is spent:

  • Making sure the needs of the people you support are met.
  • Supporting them to access activities they enjoy. 

 

A typical day working with this service user would look as follows:

  • 10am start
  • 11am activity (walk, drive)
  • 12.30pm prepare and serve lunch
  • 1.30pm afternoon activity (swimming, gym, cinema etc)
  • 5pm prepare and serve dinner
  • 6pm activity (walk, drive)
  • 7pm finish for the day

 

Some personal care may be required when it comes to washing and toileting. However, this is a key skill that would not be required until a strong relationship is built.

  • We are also looking for someone who is open-minded as the care set up is differnet from others in that the care is carried out in the person's family home.
  • There are dogs in the home, so it is important that the applicant is fine with this.
  • It is also important that the successful applicant is a driver and are a non-smoker.
  • While formal qualifications aren't a strict requirement, we appreciate applicants with relevant care experience.
