What does this Care Manager job involve?

 

Leadership & Service Management

 

  • Oversee daily operations of domiciliary care, ensuring compliance with CQC, Local Authority, and Caremark standards.
  • Maintain high-quality service delivery in line with legislation and policies.
  • Lead the care team with clear expectations, effective communication, and integrity.
  • Manage health & safety, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and risk management.

 

Quality Assurance & Compliance

 

  • Implement and monitor audits, quality systems, and improvement plans.
  • Investigate complaints, incidents, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with data protection and regulatory standards.

 

Customer Care & Person-Centred Practice

 

  • Promote customer rights, dignity, and independence in all decisions.
  • Ensure assessments, risk plans, and care plans are regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Build strong relationships with families, GPs, nurses, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Respond promptly to feedback and concerns with accountability and compassion.

 

People Management & Staff Development

 

  • Lead and support care coordinators, supervisors, and care workers.
  • Oversee recruitment, induction, supervision, and professional development.
  • Conduct appraisals, manage performance, absence, and disciplinary processes.
  • Ensure staff training meets Skills for Care, Care Certificate, and Caremark standards.
  • Guarantee coverage for all visits, including on-call and emergencies.

 

Business Development & Representation

 

  • Promote Caremark positively in the community and professional networks.
  • Support growth through service quality, customer satisfaction, and reputation.
  • Attend external meetings, tenders, and partnership activities, representing the service professionally.

Knowledge & Qualifications

 

  • NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or working towards).

  • Sound understanding of person-centred care, risk management, and outcome-focused planning.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention, medication safety, and quality improvement.
  • Familiarity with homecare management software.

 

Experience

 

  • Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within a domiciliary or homecare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing care staff teams.
  • Track record of achieving or maintaining a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' CQC rating.
  • Experience with service audits, risk assessments, and staff performance management.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources efficiently.
