We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Support Worker to come and join our Community Services and work for Harpenden Mencap. Our vision is people living the lives they want, and we have been supporting adults with learning disabilities to live their lives their way for over 60 years in and around the local community. This role is an opportunity to join and help lead an experienced team that supports people in Harpenden Mencap's Supported Living and Community care team. What does this Senior Support Worker job involve?

  • Assisting the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager in providing an outstanding level of support that will ensure the people using Harpenden Mencap services live a comfortable, dignified, liberated and happy life.
  • Assisting with the recruitment, induction, training, supervision and management of a team of support workers working with adults with learning disabilities.
  • Leading a team in helping adults with learning disabilities to understand and navigate the world around them, promoting positive relationships.
  • Planning the work of the team to support individuals to access and participate in their local community and social events to promote individuality and active citizenship.
  • No one day is the same and you can expect to be supporting people with varying learning and physical disabilities. Everyone we support is individual and has their own passions and interests which you will need to support.
